Around 3:00am, September 23, 2010, something very strange happened here in the Orlando metro. We had a power outage. Now, for most folks, that's not a "strange" thing, but I found it to be odd because we never have power outages, not even during storms. Here it was, 3 o'clock in the morning, not a cloud in the sky, an eerie glow coming from the treeline south, and west, indicating that there was still electricity in some parts of the world....just not in our part. Taking it in stride, I walked out on the terrace and found the great full moon, just a shining, and off the the left of it was what appeared to be a very bright star. I learned this morning from other reports this was Jupiter?
Jupiter isn't visible in #2, but I posted that one because I can't figure out why my moon smushed. What could have happened? In the third one, Jupiter is very barely visible, but hardly more than a shadow. In pic #1, though, it is fairly well defined. I'm surprised my little camera picked it up as well as it did.
