Anybody been hunting lately? Have you had those days where you know exactly what you want, can feel it in your blood, the image so clear to you that you can almost reach out and touch it? You plan carefully for weeks. Weapon. Check. Camo. Check. Ammo. Check. Destination. Check. No, wait a minute...... Is that really where you want to go? What if what you are hankerin' for isn't there? After all, if you've put much thought into it, you know that while your favorite spot is over yonder, where you've been noticin' all you are wishing of is in an entirely different locale. So what do you do? Go through the same old familiar motions of the same old deadend stance, or do you set your sights on somewhere else? Are you really ready to get your game on?
Well, I'm a'huntin'. I know what I want, and (don't shoot, please), it's not Made in America. It's Made in Mexico. *GASP* Yep. I said it. In recent years, I have happened upon a few articles of clothing that were Made in Mexico, and have bought a few. The price is very affordable, unlike American goods. The products are high-quality. The seams never fray or come otherwise undone. Some of the fabrics are even stain-proof, fade-resistant, bleach-proof, and tear-resistant. That is a mother's dream, I'm tellin' ya'll. When things look newer longer, that's that much less we need to spend on our closets.
The trouble of it is, it's rare to come across a tag that says Made in Mexico. Most of the clothes Americans wear these days are imported, but they are from any number of countries. China appears to be the most prominent. China's clothes are nice enough and all, but I want the quality of Mexico.
I googled -made in mexico-, and got 111,000,000 hits, but it was all cluttered with corporate sites, ebay, bizrate, et al, and I didn't find any direct hits to business lines from Mexico. Granted, they might very well be there in Spanish, but...erm.... I speak American English, and that is all I am fluent in.
I asked around. My friend from Colombia says they don't sew much there. My friend from Brazil says she knows of no outlets. My friends from Mexico say everything they produce is corporatized Americana. I don't have time to fiddle with all that foolishness. Sorting, analyzing, researching.... I want a magazine delivered to my mailbox of Made in Mexico clothing, complete with pretty colored pictures and models, not cluttered up with other countries' imports, and in English, please !!! Don't they have mail carriers in Mexico?
