Feet. Most of us have them. Some of us don't ever notice them, just go about our daily lives stomping, kicking, walking, running.....covering mile after mile after mile, with every ounce of our weight directly on top of our feet. Some people don't care if theirs are damaged. And then there are some of us who care very much. I am one of those people. My feet are sensitive, and the smallest ache, pain, hurt, or even a blade of grass in my shoe will bother me. I'll have to stop, take off the shoe, and get rid of whatever it is.
As we can see from the pics, I've been over-doing life. That's not unusual. It is, however, unusual for me to let foot care go long enough for it to get to the point of interfering with my activities. Yesterday during my treks the little blister on the back of my heel sang to me a song of sorrow and woe, telling me in no uncertain terms that it was time to do something different. Today, I figured I better get to work on that.
I took one of the little dark grey/black thingies and the pink stick thingies that are found in the cosmetics section of most stores that have a cosmetics section. Buffers, I think they might be called... They are pretty good tools for feet. I used them to sand off the callouses on my poor toes. Simple sandpaper works just as good, in case you wonder. It's better to soak in a hot tub or shower first, then take just a few minutes to sand down the dead skin. Callouses hurt !!!
Take a little antibiotic cream and bandaid for the raw blister, and sand down the dried blister, then lotion for both the feet. That feels better, but we can see that ankle has flaired up from an old injury. It does that some days, and it's a warning sign. If I don't rest it, it is going to start singing to me like that blister has done. So.... As we see, I have dutifully wrapped it and am somewhat prepared to give it the attention it deserves. There are two busy days ahead, on at a seminar, and one at a church. I can't miss either, regardless of what the ankle says. The best I can do about it is spend less time wandering around Newsvine and enjoy a bit more bedrest.
It's time to make a few changes to my daily life. My feet are warning me that they won't put up with too much anymore.
